You have heard me take about better sameness, an aesthetic trend I have been advising you to beware of, and reject, well here we go again...
yesterday I came across the story [previous post] regarding the David Barton Gym taking over a Crunch space (image left) in NYC. .
I came across this image of a relatively new brand, Blink Gym's cardio area (image right) and there it is again, better sameness.
Blue wall colors, grey rubber floor, architectural linear lights...slightly different, maybe, but one gym could easily be mistaken for the other...
these brands are ...
1. not paying attention
2. playing safe and blending in
3. using gym design firms that are "one trick pony's"
4. fighting for the same demographic and price point
5. following industry conventions that are long outdated
we're trying to expose the problems with gym design so you don't make the mistakes in numbers 1-5 above.
REALLY, its amazing to see these brands making the same mistakes, again and again and again, is it any wonder that they're all going 50 MPH in the slow lane trying to get the same customer...
